Orlando Magic officials announced that they had picked 39 minority-owned firms to award some of the multimillion-dollar contracts in the construction of their new Events Center — part of a three-venue deal with the City of Orlando and Orange County that is expected to bring more vibrancy to the metro area’s downtown. These minority contracts alone will account for an estimated $28 million investment in construction, said Joel Glass, a company spokesman.
